KL Revisited

March 2010 brought me back to Kuala Lumpur, a city often forgotten besides Hong Kong, Bangkok or Singapore. Kuala Lumpur is a blend of those asian metropolises, not that huge but worth having a go for. At least twice in your life... Selected pictures can be found here.

Paris Paris

The city of phallic breads, Japanese tourists looking for Jim Morrison's Grave and people getting essentially nowhere at all with their English: that must be Paris! Whatever the fuzz is about, pictures from this special city are now online here.

Not Sonar 2009

It lasted a fair while but now the new pictures from Barcelona are online here. The focus is not on the party side of  Sonar 2009, these actions have been documented elsewhere. So basicly here you can see more shots from this ever fascinating city, but minues the party bits and general mayhem.

A Not So Rapid Commerce

The series of pictures first described here, has now found a place on the kitchen wall! It took a while to find a service that produces small prints on Aluminium Dibond in high quality though. So now this service has been found, I need a few more walls more to place the pics on...

Start Of The Breakdown

The demolition of the Cologne savings bank old office building took months to complete. Some people wonder until today, why this classic complex was taken down at all. It did give way for the construction of a flashy new one, as can see here. Besides months of dust and noise, one life was lost during the demolition, causing the work to stop for weeks. The process of  taking the building down can be seen in this new photo section.

32 Hours

Spending around 32 hours ONLY in London with a packed schedule waiting can be quite exhausting. It helps when you have been to the capital many times before though... Looking around we found some time to take some pictures of the things that one can spot in London. The absurd, the megalomanic, the beautiful sides of it. Surf here to catch some of the sights! 

Returned From Eden

Seeing a classic band more than 25 years after attending the last concert can surely be a disappointing incident. This was definetely not true with Ultravox last Friday in London. They had fun being back on stage and the audience was eager to see them again or for the first time ever. Catch a bit of the atmosphere here.

Langkawi

The island of Langkawi is in fact a group of islands at the north end of Malaysia, not far from the border to southern Thailand. With it´s lush jungle topped mountains rising behind it´s sun kissed beaches the island comes close to ideals of the southern Pacific. Given the large nature parks of Langkawi there is hope this beautiful island will remain so. For a sneak preview, surf here!

Penang

Linked to the Malaysian mainland via an impressive bridge, the island of Penang has seen various cultural influences over the centuries: Indian, Chinese, British, Dutch. Walking around one can see buldings, temples and other remnants of the various cultures. For a short tour around, just follow the link.

City Of Angels

We doubt that there are only angels around in Bangkok. Nevertheless the city is a fascinating steam pot bursting with people, traffic, buildings and little pieces of chicken served with rice. Loads of little pieces of chicken, to be honest. I wonder how many chicken are killed every day to serve the appetite of the Bangkok people. Take a look around here.

Bilderbuch

Bilderbuch Köln aims to present shots of the various streets of Cologne. You can look up certain areas, your favorite street or interesting topics and grasp a view of the city via the net. Plus everyone is able to load up their personal shots of the city. With more than 26000 shots already online, this could be an interesting site to watch, e.g. when people get their historical pics out.

Istanbul

A short business trip to Istanbul gave me the chance to take a look at this booming town. Caught halfway between tradition and modernity, Europe and Asia it does present an interesting mixture of cultures. Take a look at the city here.

Coal Power

Coming back to this piggy post we´d like to share a few pictures of Battersea Power Station, taken last weekend. I still do wonder how this gigantic building looked when energy production was in full swing. You can find the impressions in this section of the ever expanding list.

PreOlympic

London is struggling to find it´s way from a unique European capital shaken by financial turmoil to a metropolis striving to revive the Olympic spirit. Even after 15+ visits the city is a fascinating melting pot where one can spend money rapidly. What we saw over the last weekend is on display here now. Can´t wait to hear how much a pint will be in 2012... Ta!

Pimp Your Canon

This site looks great, as it features various firmware add-ons for Canon digi cams. Such as additional displays on the screen, longer video recording sessions or using RAW format. The small but considerable drawback for me is, that the IXUS 960 IS is not featured! At least so far. So please hurry guys, I want to pimp my Canon too!

Mui Ne

And finally some photos from Mui Ne, a quiet spot on the coast of southern Vietnam, close to the town of Phan Thiet. Very quiet indeed and ideal for spotting toads, coconut rats and other critters. As well as hordes of Russian tourists...

Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta is not big, it is huge. People, motorcycles and cars queue up to three hours to catch one of the ferries, while bridges are under construction at various locations. Floating markets exchange goods from remote areas of the delta, where hardly a road exists. Some farmers need four or five hours to reach these markets by boat. On the other hand colonial style hotels on the river bank serve sparkling Champagne. To take a look at the Mekong, just click on this link.

Saigon

It´s a two hours flight from Hong Kong to Saigon, but it feels a bit like some sort of time travel. Straight from the economic superstore into ever expanding post war suburbia. From flashy Victoria Harbour to muddy Saigon river. If one can trust the figures, Saigon has more inhabitants, spreading over miles and miles with rarely a skyscraper in sight - so far. Hong Kong

First of all some of the amazing buildings in Hong Kong are online here. Sadly there wasn´t too much blue sky to be seen, from time to time the tallest structures even got lost in the clouds!

Vivid Commerce

This new series of photos will have the thematic focus of all things commercial. The four first shots were taken at the exit of the Carrefour supermarket in Dubais Mall of The Emirates. Lined up one by one a huge row of checkouts showed dramatic scenes of frantic shopping, billing and packing. The photos were digitally treated to recreate the action aspect of the scenery and will be published later this year as a limited series of high quality prints on aluminium dibond.

Revisited: BCN

Online on this stormin goog Friday are the pictures from Barcelona from last weekend. Have a look and more important, go there and see it yourself! It is still a very beautiful part of the country.

Plonk!

Did I tell you I recently ditched my year old Casio EX-Z1000 after coming back from Seville? Judging by photos taken in less well situations it wasn´t a real step forward from my EX-Z4. So all the recent pics were done by this little beauty...

They Build This City

Dubai is a PHEW city developing in an OUCH tempo consuming BOING loads of money and attracting COWABUNGA numbers of guests from all over the world. As one cabbie said, come back a year later and you will not recognise major parts of this ever changing metropolis in the desert.

Snapshots of it´s architecture and other impressions from Dubai in early February 2008 are now on display. So hurry hurry hurry before we knock them down again and build something new. Ten times big, that is.

Seville

Before the old year expires and 2008 comes jogging along, the pictures from last week in Seville have been upped to the aptly titled photo section on the left hand side!

From Kether To Malkuth

Berlins new Central Station may have its faults, e.g. it rains down heavy irons onto the concrete during a storm, but it´s a nice location for photographs. It´s all steel, glass, bright lights and wide spaces and especially fun to explore on a summer morning. Which I did in July, waiting for a train to Hamburg. So here it is, you might have paid for it with yer tickets and taxes, so enjoy staring at it in a critical but still modernist kind of fashion.
