When I Think Of You

There is nothing special about the new Janet Jackson paparazzi video everyone is talking about. She lying around naked on a sunbed, looking up for a second and later plays a sort of drum solo on her butt. That´s about it! So don´t bother downloading it. Thinking of it, synching her doing the drum solo with some beats from Michaels music might look funny. But I´m sure someone will come up with this rather soon.

Better information is avaiable now, as more essential records and books have been added to the sections on the right.

Friday On My Mind

I´m just realising there has never been a post on Fridays in October! Lazy Friday, ey? Could be I´m always BUSY, leaving the week behind.

Anyway, the Typepad service was quite slow in the last weeks. So if you visited this blog and experienced slow traffic and other problems, they should be gone very soon. The chairman and CEO wrote a message to all the customers that thing will be picking up soon, they are stocking up equipment, bandwith and things. We will see!

Agung

Leaving our hotel in Bali to the seaside, one of the first things we did recognise was Mount Agung in the distance. Most of the time it was not visible, hidden in dusk or clouds, miles away from our resort. But on our first day at sunset we could see it´s silhouette, rising high above sea level and the western parts of the island.

Streetlife

Life in the streets of San Antonio in Ibiza can be quite absurd. During the summer it is a remarkable mixture of Blackpool, Ma- galuf and Londons Westend on a bank holi- day weekend. It´s the town where once upon a time a Spanish policeman had an ear bitten off by someone "enjoying" himself on his holiday. I swear I know at least one Scouser how danced on top of a car in San An in the early 80s,  just to spend some days in jail afterwards.

Apart from that San Antonio is famous for watching the sunset in Cafe del Mar or Cafe Mambo on it´s sunset strip. And it has an excellent Indian restaurant nearby called the Curry Club. In September we watched the sun sink into the ocean while having a great (if pricey...) cocktail and went to the restaurant afterwards to get something nice to eat. In between, a shot of a post sunset road in San An- tonio was taken. It was filtered and digitally processed last night and you can see the result here.

Our Daily Insanity in Cash

Someone came up with a tool that calculates how much a certain blog is worth in $, the calculated sum is based on the Technorati ranking. Of course this is so insane I had to add it to the site. Once it tops a million $, I´ll start asking where I can fetch the money...

And yes, on Sunday someone from South America finally made it to this blog! Stayed for 13 long seconds (well...) and looked at this entry: God´s Rottweiler. From Santo Andr in the Sao Paulo region he or she came, browsed around two pages and left. Google Images brought the visitor here, maybe there was some disappointment not to see the pope...

Next: Antarctica! Aren´t there scientists in a remote camp all winter? Guess they should be on broadband - let´s wait & see!

Santa Claus Is A Robot With A Notebook

As 05.12.2005 will see the release of the long awaited Kraftwerk DVD, ten dates of parties promoting and ce- lebrating this event have just been announced in Germany. For the geeks that need to have everything, the Notebook release will be the version to get. In a laptop style box the double DVD, the double CD Minimum Maximum and a hardback book will surface. Come on Santa, I need to have that one...

Remixing Time

Not many posts here, I have been putting the finishing touches to remixing a track. The original track will appear on the forthcoming CD by Element 4, called Inspired. The track Radiomatic has been transformed to the Hallucinating Clown Remix. Maybe I´ll post it here later.

I Wanna Be Your Dog

This dog has been staring at me in the subway every day for the last two weeks. He never says a single word but seems to watch me patiently hurrying to and from work. His eyes have something hypnotic, maybe he is a psychologist or similar! He´s quite relaxed and never takes a train. I´ll keep an eye on him, though I do think of reading Orwells´ book 1984 again. Wasn´t there a guy looking at people all of the time? Maybe the dogs took over and I don´t know...

The Oil Price Addiction

The Financial Times reports here that workers on US oil platforms are quite often addicted to Methamphetamin and/or linked to it´s production. This causes delays in oil production and vacancies can´t be filled ever since it is "difficult to get a crew that's not high". Which leads to a considerable rise in oil prices in the end. So in addition to the hurricane damages, the general problems with oil shortage and the like consumer costs for this expensive liquid are affected. So our best guess is oil managers run- ning around with cups, willing to take samples of urine, will not be the solution. A black market of clean samples is said to be evolving. Bon appetit Methheads!

Someone from as far away as Guam visited my Blog today and spend nearly five minutes here! Not to be confused with the visitor from Cyprus staying exactly zero seconds. But I am still concerned about the lacking response from South America...

This has been my favourite photograph recently. As all good shots it wasn´t planned as it happened. I just wanted to take a picture of the train standing there in the early mor- ning light. But before the camera in the mobile had done its job, this geezer came in from the left, walking along the plat- form, headfirst into the rising sun. I still don´t know what can be seen behind the train in the garden. Next a Turkish girl walked into the scene from the right. But that picture failed. No double snapshot luck!

Mysterious Lady

The mysterious lady sat around in a hotel foyer last week. She did not take her dark shades off for most of the time. She just sat there, writing something down. No drinks, not talking to anyone, just writing. Even the waiters did not approach her, she was just left where she had sat down. Very strange and mysterious.

So Hologramic

So hologramic appeared the tv in my Munich hotel room two nights ago that I had to take some pictures of it. Tele- vision sets and monitors seem to be the odd companion, being around literally everywhere. Standing at the airport, waiting for the security check two giant screens were hanging over my head, blasting news. Arriving at Munich screens were all around, showing which plane just landed, what luggage belt to go to etc. The exhibition centre was crammed with them too. So little surprise to see one more in the hotel room. But with it´s minor size it had a definite 70s feeling, even tough it was not a black and white  one.  Now it´s treasured here in the photo section, so hologra- mic...

Closing Mania

After this years Ibiza visit I became slightly allergic to the term closing party. Everything that happens between the start of September and the middle of October seems to have this tag on it. Every club has multiple closings, with each promoter plus the venue itself closing the season down on their own. I wouldn´t wonder if some promoters closed their season twice... So being in Munich this morning I nearly fainted when coming across this advertisement from this years Oktoberfest. Is the Ibiza flu spreading faster than the bird flu?

Basement Jaxa

These days I enjoy looking at the efforts of the JAXA much more than the ones of  the NASA. Some of the visions I see on the Ja- panese site seem to have jumped straight out of a colourful 70s science fiction movie or one of those brilliant Godzilla flicks.  If you fancy this special "back to the future" feeling too, have a look here: JAXA

Pop Pop Pop Muzik

While the quest for the perfect pop song continues, all we can do today is hint at a blog that is worth surfing to now and then. Pop Junkie is around for the third month now and if you do need some "fresh" ideas from the past to down- load (Oooops!), search around there. Will catch the plane to Munich tomorrow, so don´t expect any updates until Thursday. But as I´m travelling to a big fair at the exhibition center, there might be some shots ahead.

Neon Lights

The fascination for neon lights existed way before German band Kraftwerk captured the spirit in their song perfectly. I come across so many of these lights, sadly often there is no time (or no camera) to take a picture. From time to time I´ll add some of the best ones to this new photo section.

Never...

...trust people that they are able to hold your digicam long enough WITHOUT TREMBLING when they take a picture of your posse in front of Dalt Vila in Ibiza at night. We went thru it four times but every picture has this psychedelic tremor de terra of ibizencan proportions. Each time we heard "It´s not working!". The old lady stood there, shaking the cam as if she was riding down a rocky road while the camera was still soaking up the lights and colours. Never- mind, next time we´ve got a tripod with us and will try the self-timer!

Sometimes you come across a very mouthwatering blog. I am not talking about all these political issue blogs, those extension-of-my-daily-job dos, these endless ramblings of prophets, religious folks or similar. Today I mean "mouth- watering", taking it literally. Beerwise does this trick to me. Or looks at least promising, as it just started off this October. More Signs

The Signs photo section has been updated with some new shots from Europe. Purchasing old gold teeth or advertising liver cheese - the signs of this world simply rule with pro- fanity.

Talking of liver cheese brings us back to the old riddle about Leberkäsekristalle. Heard in a tv report about the pro- duction of liver cheese (a Bavarian "speciality" dish), that the meat like and wobbly substance actually forms when crystals of liver cheese cling to each other.

Did I mention I recently bought a very old fashioned synthesizer at eBay? This pur- chase is not a polyphonic digital work- station with 2500 presets, it is a monophonic, non-MIDI, analogue synth from the late 70s/early 80s! So why bother buying this item at a price that makes one blush? It´s the SOUND! You can hear this wicked machine on records by Ultravox, John Foxx, Gary Numan, Herbie Hancock and others. Just like it´s 70s rival Mini Moog synthsizer the sound of the Odyssey is unique and can be spotted from miles away. Around 4000 were build from 1972-1981. This actually one of the last ones produced. Just as other inno- vative companies, Arp didn´t survive the 80s.

Eivissa In 4 Parts

Coming up with a very strange shot of a friend in a bar I noticed it could be divided into four smaller pictures and kept its absurd qualities. So I found four more from the last week in Spain and split them up into four smaller ones each. This is what can be seen in the photo section Eivissa In 4 Parts to the left hand side, the full shots were added too.
