Here Comes The Summer

The open air season starts next Thursday, at least if it stops raining. For the last couple of years it worked perfectly, the weather on this public holiday kick started the summer. People you only saw in dark clubs and opium dens ever since September gather their white faces outside, turn up the bass and get it going once again. Burned noses and heatstrokes included. But you can´t blame all of that on the sun, blame it on the music and alcohol if you wish. To keep you informed, the section Essential Clubbbing with links to various venues and events will be added. Somewhere to the left, or to the right? You´ll find it anyway...

Looking For Webspace

Sorry if there have been any problems with downloading the mp3 files today. I stored them with a provider that does not allow any mp3 traffic, so they have been offline for most of the day. But they are back online now, I´m just looking for new free webspace to provide more songs. Any suggestions are very welcome.

Optical Machines EP

The idea of the Optical Machines EP dates back to the year 1994, the three tracks were in fact created 1992-1993. At that time CD production was still an effort, so the EP was never released. Aswell Mike Ink of the Colognes Delirium turned down releasing them. He still owes me the demo DAT...

Arlanda is the first track of the EP, an untypical slow track for my work in those years. Experimenting with nature sounds as the "backing" orbish bits made their way onto this production. The idea of a sort of ambient EP surfaced.

Silence was basicly formed around a unusual sounding loop from a sampling CD, once again nature sounds were added and processed by a delay. Samples from a vintage CR78 were fed into the sampler, adding a nostalgic touch. The piano notes owe a fair bit to a Bowie track starting with W... Years later a TV jingle used a very similar loop, probably from the same sample CD.

Weightless is a track about ping pong playing astronauts, hence the NASA samples. People tend to mistake the ping pong noises for a strange sounding drum loop. There are two versions of this track, this is the one with the added bass drum.

A fourth track was discussed for this EP, but never made it. Maybe it will be released here later. The tracks (see section to the left for the mp3 download links, use right click / save target under) were transferred from the original DAT, so these are the raw versions. Remastered versions might be on the way...

God´s Rottweiler

On the way to the doctor this morning I saw this shady creature. Matrixlike it followed me around for a while, visions of God´s Rottweilers chasing me around. It went away when the nurse injected another round of medicine in my arm. What a "funny" preparation for a holiday... The injections so far were over 70 Euros, hope the beach makes up for this!

April Skies

It rained all day but somehow stopped when a conservative human being from Bavaria stepped up the ladder in Rome. Should have been the other way round. Barmy, fortunately I never subscribed to this word wide club. As well there is no way I can identify with young people standing around chanting his alias leave alone dancing around as if some brand new party smarties rained down on Rome this afternoon. Interviews in front of the Regensburg cathedral with THOSE happy people. One man summed it up for me. Standing with his fellow club members in Rome he starts complaining the very second he is interviewed: "There was no Bavarian flag to be seen on the square" - OINK. They are all moved and excited. Exited and moved. The horror of TV documentaries has already started. Learn his bio by heart. No don´t, the brainwash of synchronised media will do it for you. A great day for all Germans....NOT!

Dead Sperms

After years of horrid stories about frying your brain with your mobile there seems to be a new scare: stir-frying your sperms instead! Putting your mobile in the pockets of your jeans or clipping it to your belt may result in infertility, I read. So I wonder if doing so with an ipod results in deaf sperms?

A television feature dropped the term Leberkäsekristalle last night. If you don´t speak any German, you should try and investigate what this is. I couldn´t find it with search engines. It might lead you to a holy grail of some sort. Or leave you confused.
